Question : Are your Products Organic?
Answer : The majority of the ingredients I work with are organic but I am not a slave to the label. My goal is balancing healthful, quality ingredients with a comfortable price point for my customers. I always use New Zealand originated ingrediants whenever possible and support local business whenever possible. I Certified Organic Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Jojoba Oil, Rose Hip Oil, Coconut Oil and I am adding to this list.
Question : What are the best products for my skin.
Answer : The two most important things to consider are:
1. What imbalance, if any, are you treating
2. What types of products have you traditionally enjoyed.
Use your intuition and understanding of your skin when selecting products that are best for you. If you're ever unsure, just drop my a line and I can steer you in the right direction.

Question : Will You Send Me Free Samples So I Can Try Your Products?
Answer : Unfortunately, no. I receive dozens of these sorts of inquiries everyday and are simply unable to send free samples to everyone. However, I do offer them at a very low price - see samples/travel sizes category.
Question : I'm Using Natural Skincare For The First Time. What Can I Expect?
Answer : The skin's response to natural skincare will vary from person to person, depending on your previous skincare regimen and unique skin condition. While nearly everyone notices an immediate improvement in the tone, clarity and condition of their skin, give yourself at least a week to see the truest results. If you have been using synthetic, challenging skincare, you may experience a detoxification period as your skin transitions to balance. Some dryness, mild inflammation or breakouts are normal and a sign that your skin is purging itself of accumulated chemicals. Take extra good care of yourself during this period and drink plenty of water.

This also goes for hair care. You will notice a difference for the first few shampoos whilst your hair adjusts. But stay with it and enjoy the benefits of natural hair that isn't weighted down with chemicals.
Question : Do your products need to be stored in the fridge?
Answer : No, as a general rule our products do not need to be stored in the fridge but we do recommend keeping them out of direct sunlight in a cool, dry place.
Question : Are your face creams greasy?
Answer : A higher percentage of nourishing plant oils does make my creams denser & richer so they need to be applied sparingly. They are very economical as a little goes a long way!! Your skin will benefit in the long run because the oils remain in the skin layers for longer, so imparting their nutrients & replenishing qualities.

Mass-produced creams are made non-greasy & a€ślightera€? by adding water & reducing the oil content (the majority of oils in conventional creams are petrol derivatives). The best moisture replenishers are oil rich products.

Question : Why is my cream a different colour to my last purchase?
Answer : Near all my natural ingredients which go into my products, vary in colour from batch to batch. There is no uniformity in the colour produced. My organic beeswax and honey, which is contained in many of my creams, ranges from a deep, golden yellow colour, to a toffee brown...... depending on what the bees have been foraging on. Growing seasons, weather conditions and plant varietals all impact my products. So, my face moisturisers may appear darker one month, lighter the next or my toners may change in clarity from batch to batch. The differences do not impact the quality or potency of the product, they are simply indicators that my products are comprised of natural elements that vary with the seasons.
Question : How long will it take to receive my order?
Answer : I aim to process your orders as quickly as possible.

Most orders are dispatched within 2 days & sent by standard NZ post.
Orders placed late Friday or over the weekend will be processed on Monday.

Prompt delivery times are of the up most importance to me, but as I am a one woman band it can occasionally take a little longer. I manufacture in very small batches to ensure you get a fresh product this can also affect the delivery time
Question : Preservatives
Answer : "Natural" is a word that conjures thoughts and feelings of fresh flowers, oils, plants ect. Ita€™s very much a feel good word. Since I like to live my life in a natural way my own goal when making my own products is to stay as natural as possible.

But what does that really mean? As I learned more and more about toiletry making, my perspective on "what is natural" and "what is good" and "chemicals are bad" has changed to some extent.

The world we live in is made up of the chemical elements. We can perhaps say that chemicals ARE natural?

Mold and bacteria are natural organisms and will grow in any cosmetic product that contains water if it is not adequately preserved. Our rich creams are the perfect nutritious breeding ground.

For example, in spite of what some people will tell you, there are no
perfect options for preserving toiletries that are "natural". There are some essential oil blends that do have some microbial efficacy, but they are not without their own set of problems. They are only effective in certain emulsion formulas and they often cause skin sensitivities. They also often have a very strong odor.

The most effective, safe, and thoroughly tested options are the synthetic preservatives. To many people, "synthetic preservatives" and "chemicals" are bad.

I DON'T use any Parabens preservatives.

The preservative I have been using for oil/water formulas is Germall+. This contains 10% diazolidinyl urea and idopropynyl butylcarbamate, 90% propylene glycol. I use this at a ratio of 0.5% of my formula. This means that in a 60ml pot of cream it only contain 0.3ml. Although I have found this to be very effective I have found a better option (in my opinion!!)

It is made by a company called Lonza and is called Geogard. It is made from dehydroacetic acid (DHA) and benzyl alcohol it is very effective and also very gentle on your skin. I typically use this at 0.2-0.5%. I am slowly changing all my products over to this preservative.

I am researching and experimenting with different preservatives to use in my products all the time and so far a€śin my opiniona€? Geogard is the most effective.

I use Potassium Sorbate in my shampoos and foaming cleansers. This is derived from the Mountain Ash Tree. It is very effective for mainly water based products.
